Party Arrogance

Recent days have seen a media frenzy over the stance by a Queensland Senator to represent the interests of Queensland ahead of any duty to the Liberal/National coalition government.

Buffoons crow about Joyce being 'dopey' and needing to be pulled into line.

The Howard government has an agenda to strip rights away from the states. There can be no doubt about that and their proposed IR reforms are evidence enough of that agenda. They would be delighted to do away with the Senate completely.

For a Prime Minister to come out and say that a Senator's loyalty is to the Party ahead of their State is a disgrace and Howard should immediately withdraw that statement and apologise to the Parliament and to the Senator involved.

These guys need to realise that Australia is a federation of States. The states ceded limited powers to a central government for convenience. The continued use of loopholes to encroach into areas that were never intended to be the province of a Federal government is dishonest and immoral. Both sides of politics are guilty in this respect.
